New Economy Summit 2013: “Ketsugo” (Integration) for Global Innovators

Looking back at a summit of global innovators in the spring of 2013.

I performed at the reception party for the “Japan New Economy Summit 2013 (NES),” held at Hotel New Otani.

A Gathering of Revolutionaries

This summit brought together CEOs and founders who have sparked numerous innovations in the internet world, including representatives from Twitter, Square, Google, Pinterest, Skype, and leading Japanese companies like LINE (NHN Japan), CyberAgent, GMO Internet, and Rakuten.

The theme was to realize the metabolism and revitalization of the Japanese economy through discussion and innovation.

“Ketsugo” (Integration / Bonding)

In collaboration with a **Wadaiko (Japanese Drum)** performance, I delivered a dynamic calligraphy session.

The word I wrote was 「結合」 (Ketsu-go).

It means “Integration,” “Bonding,” or “Union.”
I chose this word to symbolize the fusion of different technologies, ideas, and people that sparks innovation.

Behind the Scenes

Actually, there was a plan for a special live calligraphy session dedicated to Mr. Hiroshi Mikitani, CEO of Rakuten.
However, due to the presence of unexpected VIP guests and sudden schedule changes, the program was adjusted, and I focused all my energy on the “Ketsugo” performance.

Performing in front of the world’s top revolutionaries was a thrilling and inspiring experience.
