Looking back at the summer of 2019, exactly one year before the scheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
I had the privilege of performing at the “Tokyo 2020 1 Year to Go!” event, held to build momentum for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Stage: Japan’s Largest Commercial Facility
The event took place at Aeon Lake Town in Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture.
This is not just a shopping mall; it is the largest commercial facility in Japan.
With a total area of approximately 245,000 square meters and over 700 stores across three distinct zones (“kaze”, “mori”, and “Outlet”), it is a massive hub of culture and commerce. Performing at the “Tree Square” (Ki no Hiroba) in the “mori” building, surrounded by such a vast space and a huge crowd, was an exhilarating experience.
The Message: “Habatake Nippon” (Soar High, Japan)
On this stage, I wrote the phrase 「翔ばたけ日本」 (Habatake Nippon).
It translates to “Soar High, Japan.”
The character “翔” (Sho), which means to fly high or soar, is also part of my artist name, Chosho (澄翔).
I poured my soul into this character, wishing for the Japanese athletes to spread their wings and reach new heights on the world stage.
Just as athletes dedicate themselves to their sport, I expressed the energy and anticipation for the Games through the dynamic flow of the brush.

2019年7月、東京オリンピック開催のちょうど1年前に行われたイベントの記録です。
「埼玉で開催！オリンピック一年前イベント〜TOKYO 2020 1 Year to Go！〜」に出演し、書道パフォーマンスを披露させていただきました。
舞台は日本一の巨大商業施設
会場となったのは、埼玉県越谷市にある「イオンレイクタウン」（mori 木の広場）。
ここは総面積約245,000平方メートル、店舗数700以上を誇る、日本で最も大きい商業施設です。
そんな広大な空間で、多くの買い物客や観客の皆様に見守られながら筆を振るう時間は、非常にエキサイティングなものでした。
揮毫：「翔ばたけ日本」
この日、私が書き上げた言葉は「翔ばたけ日本」。
日本選手団が世界の大舞台で大きく羽ばたいてほしい。
そんな願いを込め、私の雅号「澄翔」の一文字でもある「翔」という字に特に力を込めました。
スポーツの祭典に向けた高揚感と、書のダイナミズム。開催を待ち望む熱い想いを、大きな文字に乗せて表現しました。
