Looking back at the festive start of 2015.
To celebrate the New Year, I held a series of “New Year’s Calligraphy Performances & Kakizome Workshops” at major shopping malls in the Tokai region.
Celebrating with Auspicious Calligraphy
I visited two venues to share the spirit of the Japanese New Year:
- Jan 2: AEON Mall Meiwa (Mie Prefecture)
- Jan 3: AEON Mall Atsuta (Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture)
On stage, I performed a dynamic calligraphy session, writing words that symbolize good fortune and new beginnings, such as:

- 「飛翔」 (Hisho): Soaring / Flying high
- 「翔鳳」 (Shoho): Soaring Phoenix
- 「賀正」 (Gasho): Happy New Year
- 「迎春」 (Geishun): Welcoming Spring
I poured my energy into the brush, wishing for a year where everyone can spread their wings and fly high.
Kakizome Workshop on Postcards

After the performance, I held a “Kakizome” (First Writing) Workshop.
Participants wrote their favorite characters or New Year’s resolutions on postcards to take home.
It was wonderful to see so many families and children experiencing the joy of holding a brush and creating their own art to display at home.
