Looking back to the early summer of 2014, we revisit an intimate and fragrant exhibition that marked a significant milestone: the 10th Anniversary of the Masumi Shodo Class.

A Decade of Ink, Celebrated with Roses
To celebrate ten years of history, we hosted a special mini-exhibition titled “In Love with Rose.”
The concept was a beautiful dialogue between nature and art. The exhibition coincided with the blooming season of the rose garden at Gallery Masumi (Chosho Yabe’s private atelier). The vivid colors of the fresh roses in the garden were mirrored inside by a curation of Chosho Yabe’s smaller works, student pieces, and art photography of roses.

An Intimate Garden Salon
Unlike large public museums, this event was held in the privacy of the “Home Gallery,” offering a relaxed and luxurious atmosphere akin to a literary salon.
- The Atmosphere: Visitors enjoyed the unique harmony of “Black Ink” and “Red Roses”—a contrast of Zen stillness and floral passion.
- The Gratitude: Though organized with a “slow and relaxed” approach, we were deeply moved to welcome guests who traveled from afar to celebrate with us.
As a token of appreciation, every guest received an original rose calendar designed by Chosho Yabe, serving as a lasting memory of this beautiful season.
