Looking back to 2014, we revisit a comprehensive spatial coordination project that redefined the relationship between corporate welfare, local community, and art.
The Venue: “Ranzan Cafeteria” as a Gallery
In August 2014, Taiyo Holdings Co., Ltd. opened its new employee cafeteria, “Ranzan Cafeteria,” with a visionary concept: “A space contributing to the local community.”
Far from a typical canteen, this space was built using cedar wood from Saitama Prefecture, furnished by local artisans, and serves meals using local ingredients. It is a sanctuary of warmth and local pride.
The President’s Vision: Art Fuels Innovation
The President of Taiyo Holdings held a strong belief: “By exposing employees to genuine art by local artists, we polish their sensibilities. This, in turn, inspires them to create more creative products for the world.”
Resonating deeply with this philosophy, Chosho Yabe was entrusted to curate the calligraphy for the cafeteria’s hallway gallery, as well as the entrance hall, the President’s office, and meeting rooms.
Key Works: “Taiyo” and “So”
- “Taiyo” (Sun): Representing the company name, this powerful piece anchors the main space, radiating energy and warmth like the sun itself.
- “So” (Creation): A reminder of the company’s manufacturing spirit.
- “Arashi” (Storm/Mountain Mist): Symbolizing the location “Ranzan” (Storm Mountain).
- “Fuku” (Fortune): Wishing happiness for all employees and visitors.
In a corridor filled with the scent of cedar, the dynamic black ink strokes invite viewers to pause, reflect, and find new inspiration for their work.

2014年のアーカイブより、太陽ホールディングス様における大規模な空間コーディネートの事例をご紹介します。
「食」と「アート」で、モノづくりを変える
2014年8月、同社は「地域社会に貢献する場」というコンセプトのもと、社員食堂「嵐山（らんざん）食堂」を新設しました。
そこは、埼玉県産の杉を使った特注の家具が並び、地元農家の食材が提供される、地域との共生を象徴する温かな空間です。
「社員が日常的に本物のアートに触れることで感性を磨き、よりクリエイティブなモノづくりを世界へ発信してほしい」
そんな社長の熱い想いを受け、矢部澄翔が空間全体の「書」をプロデュースさせていただきました。
木の温もりに響く、墨の力
食堂へと続く廊下をギャラリーに見立て、以下の作品群をはじめ、エントランスや社長室、会議室に至るまでトータルにコーディネートしました。
- 「太陽」：社名であり、すべての生命の源。エントランスで圧倒的なエネルギーを放ちます。
- 「創」：クリエイティブな開発マインドを刺激する一文字。
- 「嵐」：この地「嵐山」の自然の厳しさと美しさを表現。
- 「福」：ここに集うすべての人々の幸福を願って。
木の香りに包まれた「Japandi（和と北欧の融合）」のようなモダンな空間。そこに書が加わることで、空間に精神的な奥行きが生まれました。食事をする、廊下を歩く、その何気ない瞬間にアートが寄り添い、社員の皆様のインスピレーションの源泉となっています。
