Corporate Dinner in Yokohama: “Challenge” (Idomu) with Wadaiko

Looking back at a dynamic night in Yokohama.

I was invited to perform at a corporate dinner event held at the Yokohama Grand Intercontinental Hotel.

Entertaining Guests from North America

The event was hosted by a major manufacturing company, welcoming guests from the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
As the grand finale of the party, I presented a calligraphy performance to share the spirit of Japanese culture.

Collaboration with Wadaiko: “Challenge”

For this stage, I performed an improvised session with the renowned Wadaiko (Japanese drum) player, Yuta Kanazashi.

On a massive sheet of paper (over 2m x 3m), I wrote the character 「挑」 (Idomu), which stands for “Challenge.”
This character represents the company’s management slogan. Fueled by the powerful beats of the Taiko drums, I poured my soul into the brushstrokes to express the spirit of taking on new challenges.

Calligraphy as a Gift

As a token of hospitality, I presented framed Shikishi (colored paper) with the character “Challenge” to the guests.
It was a joy to see the international guests delighted by this unique souvenir.

The stage is always exciting!
