Looking back at a special journey to the cradle of the Renaissance in October 2016.
To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Japan-Italy Diplomatic Relations, I visited Florence, Italy, with members of the “Kawagoe Style Club.”
Tradition of Japan, Heart of Innovation
I participated in the event titled “Tradition of Japan, Heart of Innovation.”
At the “Japan-Italy Forum on Food Culture and Art,” held at the Italian National Culinary School (SAFFI), I performed a calligraphy demonstration to bridge our two cultures.
It was a meaningful exchange where the artistry of Japanese calligraphy met the artistry of Italian gastronomy.
Street Performance at Piazza della Signoria
In addition to the official forum, I took on a bold challenge: a street calligraphy performance at the historic Piazza della Signoria.
Standing in the square surrounded by masterpieces of the Renaissance, I wrote a quote as an homage to the great artists who lived in that era.
The Words of Leonardo da Vinci
The words I chose were from Leonardo da Vinci:
“Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art.”
(その手に魂が込められなければ、芸術は生まれない)
I poured my own soul into the brush, connecting with the spirit of the great masters across time and space.

【2016年アーカイブ】日伊国交150周年記念：フィレンツェでの挑戦とダ・ヴィンチへのオマージュ
2016年10月、芸術の都・イタリア フィレンツェでの活動記録です。
日本イタリア国交150周年記念事業の一環として、川越Style倶楽部のメンバーと共に渡伊しました。
食と芸術の響演
テーマは「伝統の日本・革新の心」。
イタリア国立料理学校（SAFFI）にて開催された「食文化と芸術の日伊フォーラム」に出演し、書道パフォーマンスを披露させていただきました。
シニョーリア広場でのストリートパフォーマンス

また、この旅では「世界書紀行」シリーズの一つとして、フィレンツェの中心地であるシニョーリア広場にて、路上パフォーマンスを敢行しました。
ルネサンスの時代を生きた偉大な芸術家たちへのオマージュを込め、したためたのはレオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチの言葉です。
「その手に魂が込められなければ、芸術は生まれない」
歴史ある広場の空気の中で、先人たちの魂と対話するように筆を走らせました。
