Looking back at a prestigious international event in November 2018.
I was invited to perform at the “ANOC Awards 2018” (23rd ANOC General Assembly) held at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa.
Performing for the World’s Olympic Leaders
ANOC stands for the Association of National Olympic Committees.
The event was attended by over 1,000 dignitaries, including representatives from over 200 National Olympic Committees worldwide and IOC President Thomas Bach.
It was a great honor to present a calligraphy stage performance in front of such a distinguished audience who lead the world of sports.
“Passion” Amidst Falling Snow
The theme of the performance was set against a fantastical backdrop of falling snow, projected on the screen to honor the Winter Olympics (PyeongChang 2018).
Accompanied by the live sounds of the **Shamisen** and **Shinobue** (Japanese bamboo flute), I wrote the word 「情熱」 (Jounetsu – Passion) along with the title “ANOC Awards 2018.”
Sumi-e Challenge: Mt. Fuji
To express the essence of Japan, I also took on the challenge of painting Mt. Fuji using Sumi-e (ink wash painting) techniques on the same canvas.
The majestic mountain and the passionate calligraphy created a harmony of stillness and motion.
Global Recognition
The event was live-streamed worldwide. I was deeply grateful to hear that my performance was highly praised by the attendees and athletes.

Later, a photo of my performance was selected for the ANOC official press release, and the event was featured on Tokyo MX TV, including an interview.
Connecting with the world through the power of Shodo—it was an unforgettable night.

2018年11月28日の活動記録です。
グランドプリンスホテル新高輪にて開催された「ANOC Awards 2018（第23回ANOC総会）」に招聘され、書の舞台公演を披露させていただきました。
世界のオリンピック・ファミリーの前で
ANOCとは、国内オリンピック委員会連合のことです。
会場には、世界200以上の国と地域を代表するオリンピック委員会の方々や、IOC（国際オリンピック委員会）のトーマス・バッハ会長をはじめ、1000人を超える関係者が一堂に会しました。
雪の舞う中での「情熱」
当日は、冬季オリンピックの表彰に合わせ、スクリーンに雪が舞い散る幻想的な映像演出がなされました。
三味線と篠笛の生演奏が響く中、私はその静寂と熱気を「情熱」という二文字に込めました。
水墨画で描く富士山
また、開催国である日本らしさを表現するために、文字だけでなく「水墨画」にも挑戦。
巨大な紙面に、日本の象徴である「富士山」を描き上げました。
世界への発信
この様子は全世界にリアルタイムでライブ配信されました。
平昌オリンピック等で活躍した選手や功労者が表彰される素晴らしい式典の中で、私のパフォーマンスも高く評価していただき、ANOC公式プレスリリースの写真にも採用されました。
