Lecture: “Manifesting Visions” for Kawagoe Jinen-no-kai

We revisit a memorable evening held at Kappo Kawashima, a historic ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurant) in the heart of Koedo Kawagoe.

From Kawagoe to the World

Chosho Yabe was invited to speak at the regular meeting of “Jinen-no-kai,” an esteemed organization comprised of alumni from the Kawagoe Junior Chamber (JC). The audience included many prominent local entrepreneurs and executives.

The lecture focused on “The Potential of Shodo.” Drawing from her experiences in art diplomacy across the globe, Chosho discussed the power of calligraphy to transcend language barriers and the significance of projecting Kawagoe’s culture to the international stage.

Thoughts Become Reality

The core message of the night was a principle deeply relevant to business leaders: “Thoughts Become Reality.”

In the workshop following the lecture, Chosho invited every participant to pick up a brush. The challenge was to write their goals for the coming year on a shikishi (traditional square board).
By physically writing down their visions with ink, the abstract becomes concrete. It was a powerful session where the resolve of Kawagoe’s leaders was etched into paper, ready to manifest in the real world.
