Commission Work: “New Power to Japanese Business” for Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting

Looking back to 2013, we revisit a monumental installation created for one of the world’s leading professional services firms in the heart of Tokyo.

A Manifesto in Ink

To mark their 45th anniversary and the opening of their new office in the prestigious Marunouchi Building, Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting LLC commissioned a piece that would serve as the spiritual backbone of their new headquarters.

The subject was their corporate slogan: “Nihon no Business ni, Atarashii Chikara wo” (Bringing New Power to Japanese Business).

Minimalism Meets Scale

Spanning several meters across the entrance hall, this work is a striking example of how traditional calligraphy can define a contemporary corporate space.

  • The Scale: The sheer horizontal breadth of the piece mimics a traditional scroll but is executed on a massive architectural scale.
  • The Design: We opted for a pure white frame to blend seamlessly with the pristine white walls of the office. This creates an illusion where the powerful black characters appear to be floating in the space.
  • The Energy: The brushwork is bold, legible, and forward-moving, embodying the “New Power” and vitality that the firm injects into the Japanese economy.

This installation goes beyond decoration; it is a visual declaration of intent, greeting every consultant and client with a reminder of their mission to innovate and lead.
