Looking back to 2018, we revisit a distinguished commission for a leading name in Japanese architecture and housing.
The Wisdom of “Chi-Ryo-Chi” (致良知)
We were privileged to create a bespoke calligraphy piece for the reception room of Sekisui House, Ltd. (Saitama Nishi Sha-Maison Branch). The phrase selected for this space was “Chi-Ryo-Chi”.
Derived from the teachings of Wang Yangming, this profound philosophical concept translates to “extending one’s innate knowledge.” It speaks to the importance of acting according to one’s conscience and inherent moral wisdom—a sentiment that resonates deeply with confident leadership and ethical business practices.
Designing for the Space
The artwork was installed in a beautifully lit niche within the branch’s reception room—a space where trust is built and important dialogues take place.
- The Composition: Written horizontally to flow naturally within the wide architectural niche.
- The Aesthetic: We selected a refined celadon-green matte to frame the artwork. This color choice softens the monochrome ink, adding a touch of “Japandi” elegance that harmonizes perfectly with the warm wood tones and modern lighting of the interior.
This project illustrates how traditional calligraphy, when framed and curated thoughtfully, becomes an integral part of modern interior design, greeting guests with dignity and grace.

リーダーの指針となる言葉
支店長様よりご依頼いただき、大切なゲストをお迎えする「応接室」のために揮毫したのは、「致良知（ちりょうち）」の三文字でした。
これは陽明学の命題であり、「人が本来持っている良知（善悪を知る直感的な知恵）を極め、事柄に即して実行する」ことを意味します。常に正しい判断と誠実さが求められるビジネスの現場において、背筋が伸びるような力強いメッセージを込めました。
インテリアとしての「書」の調和
作品は、モダンな設えのニッチ（飾り棚）に合わせて制作されました。
- 構成：横長の空間に合わせ、伸びやかな横書きで構成。
- 色彩：額装には、落ち着きのある青磁色（深緑）のマットをコーディネート。
木の温もりを感じさせるラグジュアリーなインテリアの中に、書の黒とマットの緑が静かに調和し、空間全体の品格を高めています。単なる装飾を超え、企業の姿勢や精神性を語るアートとして、訪れる方々をお迎えしています。
