Looking back at a major international conference held in the autumn of 2014.
I had the honor of performing the opening act for the Welcome Reception of the “78th IEC General Meeting in Tokyo,” hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
Welcoming 1,500 Global Leaders
The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is the world’s leading organization for international standards in electrical and electronic technologies.
To showcase Japan’s cutting-edge technology to the world, approximately 1,500 guests (1,000 from overseas and 500 from domestic companies) gathered at the Tokyo International Forum.
Red, Black, and Gold: A Symbolic Performance
For this stage, three massive panels were prepared: two Red and one Black.
- On the Red Panels: I wrote 「革新」 (Kakushin – Innovation) and 「飛翔」 (Hisho – Soaring) in powerful black ink, representing energy and progress.
- On the Black Panel: I wrote 「和」 (Wa – Harmony) in shining Gold ink, symbolizing Japanese spirit.
A New Challenge: Black Ink on Black Panel
In addition to the gold “Wa,” I took on a new artistic challenge on the black panel: writing the phrase “Integration of Japan’s latest technology and beauty” using Black Ink.
Writing black on black may seem invisible at first glance, but the wet ink reflects the light, creating a subtle and profound texture visible only from certain angles.
This technique expressed the depth of Japanese aesthetics—beauty that is felt rather than just seen—harmonizing perfectly with the theme of advanced technology.

2014年11月10日の活動記録です。
東京国際フォーラムにて開催された、経済産業省主催「第78回 IEC東京大会（国際電気標準会議）」のウェルカム・レセプションにて、書道パフォーマンスを披露させていただきました。
世界1,500名のゲストへ、日本の技術と美を
IECは、電気・電子工学分野の国際標準化を担う権威ある団体です。
日本の先端技術を世界へアピールするこの場には、海外から約1,000名、国内から約500名、計1,500名もの企業トップや専門家の方々が招致されました。
赤と黒のコントラスト
ステージには赤いパネル2枚、黒いパネル1枚を用意。
赤いパネルには黒い墨で「革新」「飛翔」を力強く揮毫し、技術の進歩と未来への飛躍を表現しました。
そして黒いパネルには、金色の墨で「和」を書き、日本の精神性を象徴させました。
「黒に黒で書く」新しい試み
さらにこの黒いパネルには、もう一つの挑戦を込めました。
「日本の最新技術と美の統合」というメッセージを、あえて「黒いパネルに黒い墨」で書くという試みです。
一見すると闇に溶け込んでしまいますが、照明の光を受けると、墨の艶（つや）と筆跡だけが浮かび上がります。
それは、見えない部分にこそ魂が宿るという日本の美意識と、高度な技術の融合を表現した、静かなるアピールとなりました。
